le cascoAt the end of the nineteenth century / early twentieth, the Blaquier family bought 20,000 hectares in the province of Buenos Aires, city of Lobos. Three large estancias are built by the family on this land: Santa Maria, La Concepción and La Biznaga. Not far from the latter, a few years later, in 1919, a branch of the family, Blaquier-Urquiza, inherits a part of the land (3,000 hectares) and there is La Dulce.

They build on the highest part of the property a large main building (the “Casco” or house owners), the house of the foreman, a barn and sheds. They planted around a lot of trees to create the park and various walkways. They adorn it with sculptures, ponds and basins. They also build a large swimming pool, luxury still quite rare in the Pampa in the mid 20s …

On its 3000 hectares, “Dulce” essentially operates during those years a significant number of cattle that makes the richness of all the great properties of the Pampa. This is the “beautiful Argentine time!” However, do not live on site and do not directly manage the operation, the owners are gradually putting in the 30 land rent. Subsequently, in the late 40s, the agrarian reform introduced by General Perón (“La tierra los trabajan the” land to the tillers) forcing many homeowners to sell the plots being rented to farmers in charge of the operation, and at very favorable financial conditions for these. This is the case of “La Dulce” … while the family retains more than the main house, its annexes and the surrounding park (about 30 hectares) to enjoy during the holidays.

Finally, in the late 50s, Blaquier-Urquiza family is selling the property as is, with all that it contains.
